Yili Indonesia dairy base launches first phase of operations, creating new growth hub for Southeast Asia

Yili opens its first self-built production base in South East Asia, marking a new step in its “global network” strategy
The “double centers” of Southeast Asia in Yili in Indonesia and Thailand are closely synergized to boost its commercial performance on the international market
Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co., Ltd. (“Yili Group” or “Yili” or the “Company”), asia largest dairy company, opened its first self-built dairy production base in South East Asia. New growth pole for South East Asia
The launch of Yili Indonesia Dairy will help boost regional economic recovery from the global pandemic. Along with the production base of Yili Thailand, Yili Indonesia Dairy will be one of the company’s “double centers” in South East Asia, responding to local needs while also aiming to develop in neighboring markets throughout the region.
Due to the increasing demand, Yili Indonesia Dairy is set up to expand its production capacity. Phase I has a total capacity of 159 tonnes per day. Once Phase II is completed, total capacity will more than double to 343 tonnes per day, or 4 million units of ice cream. The increased capacity will help provide a diverse range of products to meet local demand.
A modern factory very localized to facilitate sustainable development
Situated at West Java of Indonesia, Yili Indonesia Dairy fully integrates Yili Group’s innovation, production and quality management systems in the new factory. It brings together state-of-the-art production facilities and innovation drivers to give new impetus to the Southeast Asian market. The Yili Innovation Center in Southeast Asia will work closely with local R&D institutions and Yili Innovation Centers around the world to deploy innovative products carefully tailored to the needs of consumers.
Yili Indonesia Dairy strictly adheres to the sustainability guidelines and local Yili standards. A wastewater treatment system was built with a daily treatment capacity of 2,800 tonnes. The collected water is then used for irrigation of the plants in the plant.
To date, a total of 383 employees have joined Yili Indonesia Dairy, with local employees making up 95% of the workforce. Yili has worked closely with more than 90 high quality local suppliers in Indonesia. On the market side, Yili’s dairy products will be sold in more than 200,000 retail outlets across Indonesia. From farm to fork, Yili aims to build a mutually beneficial future with its partners along the industrial chain.
In 2021, Yili maintained its position among the world’s top five players, continuing to close the gap with the biggest dairy companies. Yili reports operating income of 85 billion RMB during the first three quarters of 2021. Yili is on track to achieve a historic breakthrough of 100 billion RMB of total turnover this year.
