WHEELING – Parts of Wilson Lodge in Oglebay are about to undergo a major facelift starting in January.

The park announced Monday that next month the lodge will transform and integrate the Kline Wing into an extension of the West Wing. This will include a major overhaul of the rooms in this wing.

“The renovation of the Kline Wing is long overdue,” said General Manager Beth Whitehouse. “We are delighted to soon be offering customers the comfort, modern amenities and excellent customer service they have come to expect. ”

The rooms will be designed to offer guests a more open space, updated decor, and a color palette of warm, neutral tones. Additional renovations will include new flooring, improved lighting and updated bathrooms. A new elevator and a refreshed appearance complementing the hallways in the west wing will complete the transformation.

Wilson Lodge has undergone several transformations throughout its history. Expansions included dining room renovations in 1989 and 1999 and the addition of a conference center wing in 1997.

In 2006 Wilson underwent a major construction with the addition of the 53-room Lakeside Wing. This new wing opened in May 2006 and offers luxury king and double queen rooms and suites. The $ 15 million construction project also included a complete overhaul and renovation of existing rooms, six new king rooms and a new 5,000 square foot spa dubbed The West Spa.

The original Wilson Lodge hotel rooms were completely remodeled and renamed West Wing, in honor of Gary and Phyllis “Flip” West and their daughters, in 2016.

Oglebay renovated the Glessner Auditorium – a 7,600 square foot, 350-seat, multi-purpose conference and event space, and 1,500 square foot pre-function space – in 2021. The renovations included new carpet, restoration hardwood floors, cleaning of existing wood columns, wood paneling and railings, new LED, accent and stage lighting, audiovisual infrastructure improvements and new stage curtains and window treatments. In addition, all conference and meeting rooms have been completely refurbished and equipped with state-of-the-art presentation technology.

Wilson Lodge has 258 rooms, suites and cabins. Premium rooms and suites feature interiors with rich wood and granite, LCD TVs, wet bars, balconies, high-speed wireless and more. Additional amenities include restaurants, a full-service spa, 24-hour fitness center, retail stores and more.
