What does the new Frankfurt bike shop offer?
If you want to cycle the Benzie County coast, you can turn to Coastline Cycles.
Owners Meg Doby and Ethan Przekaza consider the county’s newest bike shop their dream come true. Plus, it’s located directly on the Betsie Valley Trail.
“Several years ago, the idea crossed our minds to own our own business. The idea of a bike shop seemed like the obvious choice to do it together,” Doby said.
Now the husband and wife team work together to sell and service bikes at their store, located at 1100 Main St. in Frankfort, near the intersection of Main St. with M-22 southbound around Betsie Bay.
“It’s a perfect building for a bike shop. It’s open, accessible,” Przekaza said.
And you can hop on a bike and jump right onto the Betsie Valley Trail.
“It’s right behind the building,” Doby said.
Doby has several years of retail management, while Przekaza – who grew up in Frankfurt – has worked in various facets of the bike industry for most of his working life.
“I’ve done every job in a bike shop, so I’ve seen it all,” he said.
The store has a variety of bikes in every style: cruisers, urban-style street bikes, mountain bikes, even e-bikes. They also sell accessories, apparel, and almost anything bike related. You can also rent bikes and use Przekaza’s expertise for repairs or tune-ups.
Doby said they were welcomed with open arms by the cycling and business communities.
“We’ve had a lot of people excited to be here,” Doby said.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. They plan to expand their activity to seven days a week by July and, depending on the activities, may hire additional staff.
