Fashion Week showcases potential trends for the upcoming season, but it also keeps us firmly rooted in the moment via street style snapshots. What people wear as they jump from runway to runway is often as inspiring as anything you’ll see walking down the catwalk, if not more.
After several seasons of digital-only or hybrid presentation models due to the pandemic, New York Fashion Week has come back strong with a packed schedule of shows and in-person events. From September 9-14, Fashion Week brought together fashion enthusiasts from around the world, all geared towards Spring 2023. They stepped out in an assortment of sartorial statements, from voluminous and exaggerated sleeves on mini dresses to rainbow knits. vibrant skies complemented by neon accessories. .
Other notable street style trends include saturated colors and prints, leather shorts and pants, and simple black sunglasses. On the footwear front, onlookers continued to favor comfortable options with sky-high heels, with leather loafers, Birkenstocks and open-toe flip-flops making frequent appearances on the streets of New York. Even so, low heels have remained a staple for those looking to strike a balance between fashion and function.
Favorite outerwear was mostly boxy blazers in bold hues and deconstructed denim jackets. And some of the best handbag brands spotted by style stars? Coach, Fendi and Telfar, to name a few.
