It’s the season to update your fall utility line, and the nanamica x The North Face Japan capsule collection has it all.

When you envision brands that merge militaristic inspirations and a utilitarian design function, you’d be hard pressed not to think of nanamica. With a name that translates to “House of the Seven Seas”, preparation for the elements and a close connection with nature are anchored in the brand’s DNA and remain at the heart of the new capsule collection alongside the Japanese branch of The North Face, operated by outdoor giant Goldwin.

nanamica is probably best known to international fans for her work on The North Face Purple Label, TNF Japan’s cult sub-label that fuses functionality and retro prep style. Until 2019, the label was exclusive to Japan – tracks started dropping in America and Europe that year as part of an extended international production experience. Unfortunately, Purple Label has reverted to being an imprint only in Japan, so you’ll have to run a proxy service to please yourself.

Eiichiro Homma, who founded nanamica, also oversees The North Face Purple Label. For the first time, however, it properly unites nanamica and TNF through this collaborative collection – no Purple Label here!

In time for Fall / Winter 2021, The North Face nanamica collaborative capsule collection was designed exclusively for national nanamica stores. A marriage of contemporary fashion and sportswear functionality, the capsule takes inspiration from the Japanese exterior style of the 70s and the preppy American style of the 80s to create the fall uniform.

The nanamica x The North Face capsule collection will be available exclusively in Japan from September 18.
