The wife of the Motherwell Football Club deputy director has become a star in the fashion world after taking the plunge to launch a clothing collection specifically for women with larger breasts.

During the first coronavirus lockdown, Jayne Lasley – whose husband, Keith, is a Fir Park legend – was distraught as she was on leave from her job as a fashion buyer.

Deciding to empty their garage, Jayne discovered a box containing her course notes from the Heriot Watt University School of Textiles and Design in Galashiels.

It was a eureka moment that gave birth to her uplifting idea of ​​a clothing brand that is now the answer to the prayers of many women.

Inspired by her own struggles to find flattering, well-fitting clothes for women with large breasts, young student Jayne Fairlie had – as part of her course in textile fashion design and management – created a fictional fashion company, Fairlie Curved.

Even before graduating, the talented Jayne embarked on a career as a fashion buyer for a Scottish company. International, and continued to work for three years for the chain of high street, New look.

She returned to Scotland to marry Motherwell midfielder Keith. Like so many professional women, Jayne juggled a full-time job and two children, and wondered if she would one day be able to achieve her entrepreneurial ambitions.

“At 40, I thought I was too old to start my own business and stayed behind,” she told Lanarkshire Live.

“Then fate stepped in on the first lockdown one day when I emptied my garage and found my old college course work including style, designs and a branding pack for a fashion company called Fairlie Curved.

“I still loved the name even after so many years, and had noticed that there still weren’t a lot of options for women with a fuller bust – lots of lingerie, but no real clothes. . “



Jayne’s designs showcase hourglass silhouettes

With this gap in the market at the forefront of her mind, Jayne used her time off work to create a Fairlie Curved style page on Instagram.

“It really took off and in a matter of weeks it gained over 1,000 subscribers,” she said.

“In fact, I was inundated with people asking me where they could buy my clothes, which made me realize that there was definitely a market for what I wanted to do.”

Jayne then took an Instagram poll to find out what clothes women were having trouble getting hold of. The answer was loud and clear: Women with full breasts had real problems finding well-fitting T-shirts.

So Jayne dusted off her old sewing machine in the attic, got an organic cotton t-shirt, and set about modifying it to give it the perfect hourglass fit.

“It finally started to give me the belief that starting my own business was achievable and within my reach,” said Jayne, who bit the bullet and launched Fairlie Curved in July 2020.

“My vision was to offer trendy yet classic options that would stand the test of time, while empowering women with larger breasts who find it difficult to source clothes for themselves.

“I just want women to feel good about themselves.

“I am also very keen on being environmentally friendly and will always use local suppliers whenever possible. “

All Fairlie Curved the t-shirts are printed in Glasgow and the hand embroidery is done in the Startup Street workshop in rue George de Paisley.

Where possible, Jayne makes sure items are made in the UK and all packaging is 100% recyclable.

Promising fashion that hugs the curves, fun and self-confidence are evident in the brand’s personality.

The best-selling products are available in sizes XS to XXXL, and in the bodycon Fairlie fit or in the standard fit, which is looser around the stomach.
