Hailey Bieber talks about her new eyewear line and what she’s wearing this summer

When it came time to design the optical assortment, Bieber says she instantly knew a thing or two about her likes and dislikes. “I wear glasses because my eyesight has gotten so bad,” she says. Baby. “I didn’t need glasses until I was an adult, which I’m sure has something to do with staring at screens and phones all the time.” Although she admits that she sometimes wears specs as an accessory, she knew they had to be practical and comfortable. For the sunglasses, however, she wanted to be bolder and have more fun with the patterns. “Put on a cool pair of sunglasses with an outfit can elevate it — it can make or break an outfit,” she says. Her favorite shapes are smaller sizes. “I’m not a big person with sunglasses; I have a tiny face.” (How many pairs does she have in her collection? “I have no idea, it’s probably an embarrassing amount,” she laughs.)

Bieber says the styles are also great for summer travel — so we couldn’t resist asking her what her travel must-haves are, aside from statement shades. “SPF to protect the skin, and a good book is important if you’re going to be spending time on the beach or outdoors,” says Bieber. “Last night I finished this book called Truth by Colleen Hoover. It’s a fiction book with really fun and interesting stories. As for what she’ll be wearing this summer, Bieber says she’s been thinking outside the box lately. “Right now, I’m having a lot of fun with my style. I try different things,” she says. “I try not to repeat the same things over and over again and venture out of my comfort zone. I’m mixing cool vintage pieces right now.

Given her latest venture, Bieber says she’s also looking forward to collaborating more with fashion brands behind the scenes this summer and beyond. “I really want to do something in the clothing space, which I will definitely do,” Bieber says. “I’m very picky about clothes and how they fit – I’m too specific about sizing and how they cling to the body – so designing something to wear is very fun and exciting for me.” Soon you might be able to dress like Bieber from head to toe.
