Dan Joyce Clothing’s Apsley store opening this weekend

APSLEY – With the motto ‘where style meets comfort’, Dan Joyce Clothing is building on its 40+ year heritage with the official opening of its new location in Apsley this weekend – promising to bring customers a variety of casual yet stylish women’s clothing collections coupled with a high level of customer service.

The new store, located at 126A Burleigh St. in downtown Apsley, officially opened for a soft launch on May 3, but the longtime business will welcome customers Saturday and Sunday for its grand opening. It is an extension of Dan Joyce Clothing’s flagship storefront in Peterborough, located on Hunter Street and established in 1979 by Dan and Sally Joyce.

For 43 years, the Peterborough store has offered “simple, timeless wardrobes” for women.

Nancy Wiskel, who took the reins as owner in October 2019, plans to build on the company’s “tradition of ‘comfort as the ultimate luxury’.”

Catering to a ‘stylish woman in town’ lifestyle, the Apsley collection offers more casual and casual styles.

“The collection can be described as leisure wear for the smartly dressed woman; fun but still stylish,” Wiskel said.

The new 1,000 square foot, two-storey space features a cozy cottage-like interior – reflecting Apsley’s country setting – complete with a fireplace.

One thing that’s no different in the new spot is the customer service that will be provided, Wiskel told The Examiner.

“We make sure we bring the same level of service that is equal to the clothes we sell and that’s the legacy I’ve been able to tap into,” she said.

As Dan Joyce Clothing emerges from a “very difficult” few years due to the pandemic, Wiskel said Aspley was the perfect fit for a second store.

“I thought it was a very good market to tap into and Apsley in particular is one of the towns that has seen strong growth over the last couple of years so I think it’s the start of a very good growth phase and I wanted to be part of it,” she said.

As sanitary measures ease and stores open, Wiskel felt it was a good time to expand.

Goodie bags will be distributed during the grand opening and customers will have the chance to participate in clothing raffles.

Currently open as a seasonal store May through October, store hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours will extend to Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting next week.
