Do you know where the 19 Petroleum and Express Mart gas station is located on Route 33 and Colts Neck Road?

A developer wants to build a huge 25,000 square foot shopping center there.

According to Asbury Park Press, the building will be L-shaped and Dollar General wants to be one of the largest occupants. While the popular discount chain will take up a good chunk of real estate, it will still make room for nine more businesses.

It is important to note that this project is still in the planning stage. Even if the green light is given to build, it will still take a decent amount of time before Dollar General or any new business is up and running.

News of this possible new addition to the busy Howell intersection has raised some questions. First of all, where are Petroleum and the Express Mart going, or are they finished? What will traffic look like if a full-fledged mall is up and running? Finally, what kind of cool retailers, stores and businesses would we like to see set up?

What do you think? Let me know by writing me a note. Matt@943thepoint.com.

As I type, a virtual meeting is set up by Howell’s planning board to discuss the future of this project and determine if it has legs. Watch this space for updates.
